Krü
This page is designed for students to gather all necessary information regarding involvement in non-performing capacities. Below, you will find descriptions of the various roles we have available and links to the current show krü application!
General Krü Information
What is Krü?
Krü is one of the most critical parts of production. The Kru includes anyone who helps with the show in a capacity other than acting or being in the pit. This consists of the Student Director(s), Stage Manager, Technical Manager, Props Manager, Lighting/Sound Operators and Designers, Running Krü, and Build Krü. Building the set can be a fantastic experience, not only in terms of technical skills but also in terms of getting to know your peers.

What are the various positions in Krü?
Below, you will find a brief description of each Krü position, along with the associated time commitment. This is for reference only, and not every role is offered for every show.
Student Director- This student or group of students helps the artistic team with various aspects of the
production. They help to communicate the schedule, keep track of attendance, and communicate
between the directors and technical leaders. Must be available for the entirety of the rehearsal period through tech.
Production Stage Manager- This student will “call” the show, as well as oversee the running kru, and work with the director to help create the artistic vision. Must be available for the entirety of the rehearsal period through performances.
Deck Chief- This student will oversee the backstage running crew, as well as manage the backstage area during performances. Schedule is set with the artistic team, but generally they join about a week prior to tech, and then remain through strike.
Props Manager- handle finding all the props pertaining to the show. Schedule is set with director to make sure all props are secured, with usage beginning generally one or two weeks prior to the start of tech. They should also be available during all of tech and show run to manage props.
Lighting/Sound/Spotlight Operators- These students will be tasked with operating the boards
during the tech rehearsals as well as during the run of the production. Must be available for all of tech and run of show, and will also attend a couple tech days for training and to prepare for the tech week.
Running Krü- This group is backstage and handles all set piece movement as well as setting props as
necessary. They take direction from the Stage Manager and Deck Chief. Must be available for all of tech and run of show, and will also attend a rehearsal in the week prior to tech to prepare.
Build Krü- This group may or may not be separate depending on interest. They are tasked with creating
the actual set and other props under the direction from the set designer, and possibly other kru leaders
depending on the production. This schedule is created using the availability of the students and staff. Some weekends may be used to complete certain tasks, while others will occur after-school.
